University of Texas Senior Communications Specialist John Kriescher interviewed our primary science partner, Dr. Sudhir Paul about one of the most frequent questions he is asked: how did you discover the vaccine candidate? The answer: by accident.
But discovering the possible vaccine was not at all a clear process. “It was purely an accident,” Paul says, “but we were ready for this accident. We call it serendipity in science, the art of recognizing good luck when you happen to stumble upon it.”
